Overview
Revising a facelift surgery is more complex than performing the original surgery. Dr. Paul Holden is trained to assess and correct the challenges of performing surgery on a previously operated patient. Revision facelift surgery has complications that our experienced surgeon at Scottsdale Plastic Surgeons has diagnosed and addressed for many of his patients seeking improvement for facelift surgeries from other surgeons. Scaring, uneven results, disappointing results, pixied earlobes (ear lobes attached to the jaw line), wide incision scars, weakened internal layers and, in general, dealing with another surgeons work are all challenges that Dr. Holden can address and improve.

Surgical Technique
There are various techniques used today to perform a facelift. Facial anatomy, skin laxity and the overall aesthetic goal of the patient will determine the best approach. The revision of a previous surgery has the additional complexities of scar tissue and adulterated tissue from the original surgery. Each procedure will be unique to the patient and will vary based on the type and location of the incision, the number of tissue layers affected, the plane of elevation and the level of invasiveness.
During/After Surgery
All facelift procedures are performed under monitored anesthesia care (MAC) sedation at our surgical facility. The length of the surgery will vary, but a revision surgery generally takes between 4-6 hours. This surgery is considered an outpatient procedure. After surgery, patients will be bruised and swollen and the face and neck will feel tight. This will gradually improve within a few days. It is common for patients to feel anxious about how their face will appear. Most patients feel comfortable in social or work situations between 10 to 14 days after surgery, often with concealer makeup. Patients need to understand it can take several full months for the final results to appear.
