Overview

When a patient does not get the tight, sharp neckline that they desire from a neck lift, a revision necklift from Dr. Holden can provide these results. Dissatisfaction from not removing adequate amounts of fat, wide, misplaced scars, neck banding, sagging or pinched skin along the incision line are some of the reasons Dr. Holden's patients seek him out to perform an additional neck lift surgery.

Revision plastic surgery is an intimidating endeavor. Dr. Paul K. Holden has the experience and training to provide you with an exceptional surgical experience and post operative care and to give you the naturally beautiful look you desire and deserve.

Surgical Technique

A neck lift revision surgery will address issues like hanging,  loose skin and fat deposits around the underlying neck muscles. Additionally,  a revision surgery will take into account widened, misplaced scars, neck banding and uneven results. An incision is made under the chin, and in some cases, behind or in front of the ears. If fat removal is part of this surgery, liposuction will be the first step. Next, the neck muscles (platysma) are pulled tight and the overlying skin is stretched and re-draped to achieve the desired definition. At this point, the original scar tissue is cut out and sutures are placed deep within the neck wall and a drain may be inserted to control bleeding.

During/After Surgery

A neck lift is considered an outpatient procedure, performed under monitored anesthesia care (MAC) sedation at our surgical facility. This surgery typically takes 3 hours to complete, but that will vary by surgical case. After surgery, there will be some bruising and swelling. Patients will feel tightness and a pulling sensation as the neck adjusts to its new position. Most patients are able to return to work within 7-10 days. It can take several months for the optimal results to appear and for the neck to look and feel natural.
